Biography

Jeanette A. Wistrand, 99, of Kenosha, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Wynwood Assisted Living.

Born on December 17, 1910, in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Delphine (Chartier) Mercier.

In 1929 she married Rudy Oettel in Rice Lake. He preceded her in death in 1952. Jeanette married Jack K. Lundgren in Kenosha in 1953. He preceded her in death on December 11, 1971. Jeanette then married Howard Wistrand in 1973. He preceded her in death in 2000.

For 20 years she was employed at American Motors in the final inspection department until her retirement in 1971.

Jeanette was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, UAW Local 72 and the Eagle’s Club. For 38 years she was a member of the Moose Club and the Woman’s Auxiliary of the Moose.

Jeanette loved to bowl and dance. She also traveled extensively.

Survivors include her two sons, Kenneth (Joyce) Oettel of Kentucky, Larry (Carol) Oettel of Oshkosh, WI; two brothers, DeWayne (Ann) Mercier of Racine and Chuck (Peggy)Mercier of Maryland; four sisters, Marian (John) Yanhelden of Montana, Doris (Jack) Eriksen of MN, Mary Jane Scott of Racine and Donna Meyers of Rice Lake, WI; six grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.

Along with her parents and three husbands she was preceded in death by her sisters, Elaine Stooldryer, Irene Krippner, Lucille Krippner and her brothers, Morris, Wallace and Vernon Mercier.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 31st at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Alterra Wynwood and Hospice Alliance for the special care that Jeanette received.
